Orthodontics is a way of straightening and correcting crooked, misaligned, or spaced teeth. They help you look, eat and feel better. Modern orthodontics offers different techniques to straighten teeth and provide quicker, comfortable and better results.

Types of

Orthodontic Treatments

Lingual Braces

These are metal braces similar to traditional braces but placed on the inner side of the teeth towards the tongue rather than the outer side of the teeth. They have an esthetic advantage as the braces cannot be seen and works as efficiently as traditional braces.

Myobrace

These are used for pre orthodontic treatment in children between the age of 5 and 15 to prevent any underlying reasons of crooked or misaligned teeth. This orthodontic appliance is worn during the night and one to two hours during the day.

Ceramic Braces

These are a popular esthetic treatment option for straightening teeth. Smaller tooth colored ceramic brackets are placed on the teeth instead of traditional metal brackets. These are discreet and align teeth as effectively as traditional braces.

Aligners

Aligners are a series of custom-made clear coverings made out of plastic to align teeth similar to traditional braces. They discreetly straighten teeth without the bulkiness of metal braces. We at Shams Dental Clinic use Invisalign aligners.

Damon Braces

Using these self-ligating set of brackets ensures a more quicker treatment results and are more effective than conventional set of braces. These do not require wires and colorful elastic ties around the brackets, thus making the procedure more comfortable and require fewer visits to achieve the desired results.

    • Always remember to brush your teeth after every meal. Our experienced orthodontists advice to use single-tufted brushes to clean between the braces and interdental brushes.

Yes, it is important to have your regular dental check up every 6 months. With braces, food may get lodged in between the brackets and hard to reach areas with a normal toothbrush. This may lead to bacterial build up that may cause tooth decay and gum diseases. Our general dentist and orthodontist will work together to make sure your teeth stay healthy and clean while wearing braces.

Orthodontic treatments will not interfere with your day-to-day activities. However, it may take a few days for you to get adjusted to your braces after you first get them placed. When playing contact sport, it is recommended to wear mouth guards to protect your braces.
